Stevens Creek Elementary School
Lake Stevens, Washington
It’s been a busy year so far at NAC Architecture! Over the last six months, we’ve had the opportunity to celebrate some amazing project milestones, including three project openings.
This summer marks our most recent project completion of 2018: Lake Stevens School District’s Stevens Creek Elementary School.
The elementary school is collocated with the district’s new Early Learning Center, creating a comprehensive PK-5 campus that provides a continuum of services for students starting at three years old through fifth grade. The campus is centered on the concept of “flow,” and uses the steeply sloping site to both visually and physically move students through each grade level from the ELC to the elementary school, and eventually down to the future middle school planned for the campus. This project was an opportunity to work collaboratively with the Lake Stevens School District and their school community to design a facility that will be a catalyst for their model of educating younger children.
Last month, a dedication ceremony was held for one of NAC’s recent healthcare projects, the new 17,000-square-foot Indiana Medical Clinic in Spokane. The modernized health center allows staff and administrators to expand their services in Eastern Washington, and increase the impact of their education and advocacy efforts. The two-story space houses seven exam rooms, two surgical suites, two ultrasound rooms, administrative support space, and a community education center. The design of the clinic maximizes privacy while providing a welcoming facility for patients and staff.
Earlier this year, NAC celebrated the re-opening of a historic Spokane icon: the Riverfront Park Looff Carrousel Facility. With origins in 1909, the Looff Carrousel is one of the country’s most beautiful and well-preserved hand-carved wooden carousels, and it needed a new home. The new 12,300-square-foot facility includes an event space with catering kitchen, concessions, gift shop, an expanded observation and queuing area, and space for exhibits that highlight the ride’s fascinating history. The design of the facility maximizes the public’s experience at Riverfront Park. Carousel riders can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding river and park, and increasing its external visibility, drawing park visitors toward this amazing artifact.
NAC Architecture was founded on a mission to create places that advance learning, enhance wellness, and enrich lives. It has been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to collaborate on these three projects that feed our passion and impact the communities we serve.
